FABULOUS food! We ordered the mixed appetizer and were pleased with that--which arrived after the soup and large hot tea brought by the gracious owner. Our entrees were green curry and and "drunken squid." I asked for my green curry to be spiced at level 4, and it was very spicy--just as I like it! Both entrees were super good, and it was difficult to decide which we liked better . Dessert was a Burmese cake, served warm, loaded with raisins (I think) and topped with toasted coconut. Servings were generous, service was good, and owner/chef was friendly. It's not much to view on the outside, but the food makes up for it! Try it!

Not good. The cheese balls were cold and the beer was warm. Ankeny has much better options to offer.

My boyfriend and I love this place. I work part time in the area so often we meet here if I work a short shift. I am a vegitarian and he is not. I get Panang Curry with tofu which is fabulous and perfectly spiced. he gets the Banh Mi which is a vietnamese sandwich. the staff is very layed back but I don't take it as rude. Just casual.

We were there Saturday, February 11, 2012 Arrived at 6:30pm, were seated and promptly served drinks. Then it took a whole hour until the waiter took our dinner order, and dinner was not served until 8:15pm !!!! The soup had too much pepper in it, the salmon was burnt and the angelhair pasta under the fish was barely lukewarm. Definetly NOT a good experience and we will NOT visit this place again nor recommend it.

This place is soo dark, so first off they need some more light, my younger kids were a little scared at first. Seems like the kids only like the 2nd room with the slide. It seems to be a bit run down and the employees lack enthusiasm and just sit back and don't really interact with the kids or parents. I Didn't receive the help I had thought I paid for, I think my person was juggling multiple parties because she kept dissapearing and reappearing. Really won't recommend or use again myself for parties.

Awful really doesn't do justice to my 2 experiences the first time they were out of just about everything and what there werent out of wasnt very good the broccoli in the soup was way over cooked went back a 2nd time for a friends birthday party we got there and they messed up the reservation 45 mins letter we finally were seated and then only took about 2 more hours before we got are food drink ordered were messed up lots and had to ask for my drink three times before i got it i will NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN

Rude service, poor food and loud. Hardly what I would call a good tenderloin or cheeseburger soup. Turning into just another dive. Not to mention the two drunk girls sitting at the bar harassing dining patrons. How embarrassing it must be to either work here or even own this tacky place!

Most of the reviews on this site are over three years ago. The food was good, the service good-not great. The menus were gross. If menus are going to be left out on the table, let's wipe them off. While we are at it, the table also please. The glasses and dinnerware are gross. Feeling the outside of the glass, is gritty. Hold the glass up to the light. GROSS. I wouldn't keep a glass like that in my cupboard. The plates need to be replaced. Scratched, gray and gritty. Again gross.

The food & service was wonderful. We have been there twice and looking forward to a return. We enjoyed it previously when it was located in clive and missed it while it was gone. Great to have it back.

Too many fights and not enough security. Security who will step in and follow through appropriately. They have a huge problem because they don't cut off drunks they just serve them up, let them fight, then throw them out. You are on your in this joint.

I saw a tall white guy slam a little black guy down on the concrete floor just because he was talking to a young lady. Security did absolutely nothing so the little picks himself up off the floor obviously hurting punches the tall white guy in the nose and wouldn't you know then they call the police to have the little black guy arrested. Damn what a shame!

What people see in this place is beyond me. Salad simple plate of weeds not good at all, prime rib best in Des Moines spare me it was terrible!!!! The best Prime in DM is at a little bar call Phils on friday nights. Melts in you mouth the way prime should not chew and chew like this dump oh and one other place that claims best prime John and Nicks don't bother it's even worse and the price...make Donald Trump faint!

We used to go here at least every other month. We stopped going about two years ago because the quality had fallen so much it was no longer even acceptable. I usually got Italian pepper steak. The quality of the meat was totally unpredictable, but grew steadily worse. It got to the point where less than half the meat was eatible. I do not consider a cube of 100% fat or grissle to be acceptable. Mistakes happen, but when it is this consistantly bad, it is not a mistake. While they did have a couple of great servers, the majority were less than acceptable. Also, someone needs to tell the owners that having a shouting match with the staff is also unacceptable. We had enough bad meals towards the end that we will not be back to see if they corrected the many problems. This used to be a great place, but it has gone down the tubes.

I have to admit that I do love a good tamale so I'm biased. These are great tamales and I really enjoyed my two visits. Even my dining partner, who is not a tamale fan, enjoyed them. The people are very nice, the place is quite small, but clean, and overall it was a good experience. No ambiance here, but I go to a restaurant for food, not looks. Decent selection of tamales with somewhere around five main course ones avaliable. They also have around four desert ones, but I have not tried those yet. My favorite is the spicy pork filling. The masa around the filling has just the right texture and thickness for my tastes. Rice and beans are good as is the complementary cup of soup. Have not tried the tacos, but the picture looks good. Quite inexpensive and filling with great taste and quality. I will be going back on a regular basis.

Ive been to a lot of expensive restaurants, this was by far the worst of them all.. The service here was absolutely horrendous, we never saw our waitress. The food was mixed up, the bills were wrong.. And to top it off, they charged the wrong credit cards for our checks.. For a group that had reservations to a bistro, extremely disappointed. The manager had no sympathy for making us wait an hour for our checks alone. Customers beware, this establishment has no good service, obviously the customer is the bad guy here. Very mediocre food for 50-60 dollar meals. + 20% gratuity. Asinine....

Stopped by the Americana for dinner while in Des Moines. Excellent wait staff. Enjoyed some of the more unique items on the menu. Loved the scallop lollipops!
