Actually, the new owners went back to the REAL recipes for the pizza- the other owners had been watering the sauce down. I ate there when bill owned it and sense the new owners took over. IT's great, the crust is crisp, and not burnt, and the sauce nice and thick... the best part is that you still get cookies with the meal- I believe that the cookies are home made though, they always have a new kind... The sandwich add-ons are AWESOME- I suggest the tenderloin- If you didn't like Bill's you should go back.... It's nice to see a owner always there too, when Bill owned it all's I ever saw was 16 year olds running the place...

To me it isn't suprising this place closed. The food SUCKED! I agree with Randy. The sauce was horrible, and the crust was thin & burnt. GROSS. Hopefully the new people will have better pizza. One of those 1.00 Tombstones pizzas was better than this place!!!

Bill's Pizza is surprisingly closing.
I was in the other day and noticed the little oval Bill's signs on the glass were ripped off, then the pizza paddles behind the counter with the caricatures were gone. Then I looked up and saw that the chalk board said Verne and Ashley's. wtf?
So I looked at the table to find there were still Bill's menus out. We ordered a Taco pizza - completely different recipe. different crust, tomato sauce, it was just plain different. Service wasn't good, no complimentary cookies, nothing. It was a sad visit for almost everyone I saw in the restaurant.
A surprise closing. Sad. I loved Bill's.

Great Pizza! Love that thin crust and fresh sauce. Obviously "Randy" has attitude issues. Poor boy.......

My favorite Pizza in Ankeny, enough of the thrown together pizza chain pizza, this pizza is a thin crust lover's delight. Very reasonably priced and delivery is always on time. I am not a family member or friend, just a person searching for great pizza in Ankeny, and I found it at Bill's.

Ok, apparently I am the only person writing a review that is not an employee, friend, or family member. I think that a pizza place should be first judged on their sausage and Bill's SUCKS! The whole place and their food is average at best. OK, I just said average because I was trying to be nice. I would suggest that if you have a gift certificate for Bill's pizza, I would be using it soon. Enough said.

Best pizza in town - hands down. The dutch oven is awesome. Big chunks of sausage make this 'za irresistable! My wife thinks the same about the taco! If you think this pizza is any less than smashing, you're a buffoon!

This is by far the best pizza I've had anywhere. We called ahead and our order was ready when we arrived. Check this place out!

Pretty amazing slice of pizza. What the famous Great Plains Sauce and Dough is to thicker oven pizza, Bill's is to thin. The place is crowded and slow for a reason! And well worth it. If you have kids, it doesn't hurt to call ahead.
Fantastic!

The food was good and the service was really nice. Mary waited on us, and didn't mind stopping by to just chat every once in a while.
The prices were decent for the quality of the food. And it didn't take an hour to get the pizza. I was actually impressed at how quickly we got the food.
I'm interested in returning.

This place looked promising, any maybe we just caught them too soon after being open, but we had a terrible meal experience here. The place looks cool, with pictures of local business people and such hanging around the place, but it took them over an hour to make us a pizza. They've only got two ovens, and I'm pretty sure that they only had one running, and they couldn't figure out how to efficiently make dining in customer orders at the same time that they made delivery orders. With two young kids, waiting an hour for a pizza which turned out to be too thin and got soggy just wasn't a good thing.

Although I've only frequented Bill's Pizza once, I will definitely be returning. Being new to the area, they offer an excellent choice in pizza cuisine. In fact they even offer a PB & J pizza. Bill's Pizza is owned by Bill Rubis and his wife, Mary, the same owner of the Ankeny Jimmy John's. So, getting back to the food...pizzas come in thin crust and are baked on stone deck ovens. The service is great and the food is excellent. So, go give the new guy on the block a try. You won't regret it!
