i love carls place. always cheap, always smoky, what else do you want. great neighborhood dive. and you can take your dogs inside.

My partner and I went on a dive bar tour last weekend, and Carl's was by far the diveiest of them all. Although some of the clientele was a bit, er, rough, we were pleasantly surprised by the prompt service. The natives (regulars) are friendly and will talk your ear off given the chance. Import and speciality bottles were low priced ($2.50), but the trade off is smoke and lack of ambiance.
