Just what the city needs, another dance club where all the guys show up dressed in Abercrombie and the girls are all trying harder to be seen. I had high hopes for this place, but it's just a dance club where the preppy people hang out. Avoid this place like the plague.

This place is very disappointing. It advertises itself to be a punk, underground type of bar. In the end, it couldn't be further from that. It's nothing more than an obnoxious dance club that plays loud crappy dance music and the drinks are way overpriced. This is the place where people who just turned 21 (and even those that haven't yet apparently) show up to be seen. I'm sure the teeny-bopper Drink type crowd will disagree with me on this and if you are one of those, this place is for you. Otherwise, stay away.

This bar kicks ass! The crowd is always different the staff is awesome. Sometimes you have to wait awhile to get a drink but that's because it's so crazy in there. I love it! Downtown has changed so much since this bar has opened too!!!

uh so bring your stripped shirt. and be prepared to wait forever for a drink unless you happen to be a chick.Also hope you like shitty music,cause the "dj" should be spining plates on sticks, not records.

I've been to the Liar's Club in Chicago and had a great time, so I was super excited to be getting one in Des Moines.
I finally got to check it out last weekend and loved it. Some may disagree, but this is exactly what downtown Des Moines needed - a "club" not owned by Smithson.
As far as first impressions go: the look, crowd, music, and staff were great. Everyone working there was super cool, fast, and generally ruled. The bouncers and door men were even nice.
As for the atmosphere, there was plenty of standing space, some tables (both regular and VIP), a dance floor, a couple pool tables snuck in the back, and even a photo booth! The mirrors in the bathrooms were also especially cool. GIRLS!
The only thing I can think to fix is the lighting behind the bar.
The actual bar is set down a few steps from the rest of the club. It's a dope idea, but since it's lowered, we have a perfect view of the floor behind the bar - especially since they're pointing spot lights directly at it. Being a white tiled, nasty bar floor, it was a little obnoxious. Dim the lights over the floor, brighten the ones over the bartop. That's it.
I loved this bar - it will make hanging out downtown much more fun and diverse.

Great look at night. We went there Saturday night and really many, many people we know were there that night!!! Great place to see and be seen. Not nearly as much fun as Drink the OFB though!
