Shrimp tasted of dirty water and not of shrimp. Broccoli chicken was average. Crab Rangoon were good. Tea was mediocre and again tasted of dirty water. Our server was quite friendly.

If I want Chinese, I'll head up the street to Tsing Tsao or into Waukee to Shanghai. If I want Thai, there are a dozen other places to choose before coming here.

this place has been around for years, and is Urbandale's best kept secret. The hot & sour soup is the BEST (check it out and try it for yourself) I cannot even eat hot & sour soup from anywhere else due to this place. It makes me salivate just thinking about it. Lunch prices range anywhere from $4 to $8 depending on the entree. All lunches are served with a cup of soup, a freshly made egg roll, and a perfect lightly fried crab rangoon. You can pretty much customize any menu item to your liking. Notice that everything is robust in flavor and you can tell that all items were freshly prepared. Try the Thai Braised Chicken on the dinner menu, its fantastic. The Fried Rice has more flavor than most, and you can ask for spicy for that extra kick. You can expect to be waited on by the owner of the restaurant, who will remember your name and what you like if you happen to stop by more than a couple of times. The atmosphere is quaint and usually pretty quiet. This place is by far the best Asian cuisine in Des Moines. I have tried others and nothing can compete with this place. These are just a few reasons that my friends, coworkers and significant other keep coming back for more. We love House of Thai !! We just wish that they had more locations....
