Can't understand why there are such good reviews. Had lunch there for the 1st time on Saturday. The service was VERY slow. Appetizers were slow to arrive and not worth the wait. I ordered Crab Ragoon. What a disappointment! A blob of cream cheese in a rectangle of wrapper. No flavor... where was the seasoning? Ordered Kung Pao Chicken. Way too much garlic and no hot peppers. I like peanuts in my Kung Pao but I could have done without if the flavor was right.

Definitely, I won't be going back.

I took Jodi "K" Buresh's recommendation and she was right. GREAT place to eat. I knew her taste in dining was tops and she didn't fail me. Ted

i used to be a waitress at cafe su. usually people who work at a restuarant dont really like thier workplace's food, but cafe su is GREAT!! i see all the backstage stuff and know wat goes on back there.. everything is SUPERR- CLEAN! (i rememeber every day of work) and food is fresh.

id recommend chef zon's special. that is one GOOOOD dish...

and u can forget the cafe su dark sauce thats served with appetizers, not the peanut sauce but the thick one.. THAT IS SOME GREAT SAUCE!

Cafe Su is delicious!! I love the way it looks and the music is always great too! There's been fast and friendly staff every time I've gone and they've got the best fortune cookies dipped in homemade chocolate!

The food is amazing. The service is normally quick, but can lag behind when they are short-staffed or busy. Everyone ought to try all their food. It is all so delicious and I cannot wait until the next time I get the oppurtunity to eat there again! It is just to good. I'm gettting a craving for it right now. I think I am going to go get some right now! Trust me, its worth it!

My first time at Café Su was this Saturday and it caught me completely off guard. The atmosphere is unique with an industrial/elegance about it.

The food was amazing. The vegetable egg rolls, outstanding, served with two incredible sauces…a sweet plum sauce and zesty hot mustard. My main course was a huge portion, filled with flavorful vegetables lightly covered in a Hoison sauce. Everything was wonderful.

Drinks, they have an extensive wine and beer list and some tasty non-alcoholic beverages.

And to finish the meal a chocolate-covered fortune cookie was given to us and it was so yummy.

Everyone was super friendly, but the service was super slow, which we found out later they were short staffed by 3 servers. It ended up to be a 2+hour dinning experience because of this hiccup. But, the food was well worth it and I can’t wait to try it again.

I miss Cafe Su! I moved to Austin ten years ago and I really miss the great food! Chef Zon is an artiste! I can't find anything as good near or in Austin. Always great food, great beer, great wine list, great live music and great service.

Fantastic Chinese food. Period. It is amazing how much better Asian-style food tastes when a restaurant prepares it with high quality ingredients. Or at least not with bottom-of-the-barrel meat. See also Thai Flavors & Cool Basil. Cafe Su's food is just excellent. Throw in the understated, sophisticated atmosphere, and you are in for an enjoyable evening. The service is up to par as well.

If you aren't up for going out to dinner, I suggest trying Cafe Su take out style. You receive a huge portion--one entree easily feeds two. (Hopefully, this post doesn't give away my trick.) Be sure to get yourself a chocolate-covered fortune cookie.

My family loves Su's. Whenever I come in from Chicago, we make a trip at least once during my visit. It's a slice of hipness in the middle of Des Moines and I dig the chow, too.

Try the Pad Thai - it is awesome - and I can't wait to see their new building when it is finished.
