Felix & Oscars Restaurant

This was the worst dining experience we have ever had. We would not reccomment this place to anyone. We waited over an hour for our pizza when we were the first ones in at dinner time. Then the pizza was WRONG. We waited another 45 minutes and the pizza was WRONG again and the person running the room we were in said it was just fine but all the cheese was put on the bottom not the top and that is why it looked like we were only getting tomatoes with mushroom and olives. What a liar. This place is AWEFUL and we will never be back and will never reccommend it to anyone.

The crust isn't bad, although the last time we ordered it was way overcooked. The sauce is the biggest downfall here, if you ask me. It tastes like it came right out of a can, overly sweet and no depth. The meats are good. The thin crust came to us more like a traditional hand tossed pizza - there was nothing thin about it. We had it delivered to our office, and it took an hour and 20 minutes. Chicken wings (rarely ordered for delivery) were burnt completely, and were obviously soggy by the time they got to us. Really bad. If I'm in the mood to splurge on pizza, it certainly won't be at Felix and Oscar's - I'll gladly drive the 20 minutes to Wig & Pen in Ankeny.

We finally got around to trying pizzas at Felix & Oscars. Our party of four ordered one deep dish pizza along with a thin crust regular pizza. The deep dish was a new experience for us. We were taken back by the size and flavors. The thin crust pizza was a disappointment. We sat at one of the booths with a TV but found this section too noisy because of the different channels playing. In the future, we'll know to ask for a table elsewhere. We were pleased with the service and found the prices reasonable. We will definitely return for deep dish pizza. However for regular pizza there are better options around.

I've been a big F&O's fan for years, and I found the food at the new W.DM location to be just as good! They haven't missed a beat! I'll bet anyone who had a bad experience went there soon after they opened. Give 'em another chance. I used to be in the restaurant business, and everyone experiences a few growing pains! Best pizza in town,no contest!!

I have frequented F&O since the mid-seventies. My family patronizes the Merl Hay restaurant. Though the decor has not changed, the staff and the pizza are the best in Iowa. There is no other pizza that comes close if you are looking for deep dish. Also, if you are into low-fat, they will make the deep dish without cheese. The sauce is sooo flavorful I have never missed it. They also have a non-fat dressing as well.

The pizza is good, great crust and sauce. They, like a handful of other DMI pizza joints, offer Grazianos sausage so they get a star for that alone. The service at both locations is horrible. I repeat, horrible. If at all possible get the pizza to go.

Went there last weekend for the first time (southsider). The pizza was maybe the best I have ever had, the service was outstanding, and the wings were killer. Had heard how good it was and now I know why.

We all had pizza and it was all cold. We waited forever for it to be brought to the table. The service was terrible and and they were not the least bit busy. They probably were the most unfriendly place I had been to. We spoke with the manager and felt he was very unproffessional. He says "well what do you want me to do about it?" That will be the last time we eat there.

Good salad,cold pizza,some dirty silverware and glasses,lousy white russian just about sums it up why we won't be back!Very disappointed!We get together once a month and try various restaurants this is the only place that doesn't deserve our return visit. Too bad because the one at Merle Hay is great!

NOT GOOD MEAT WAS UNDER COOKED

i am starting off with the best and most important: the Chicago-style pizza, heaven help me, this was delicious! I am a huge fan of Giordano's in Chicago, but always sad that nothing compared here in Des Moines (I guess I was completely oblivious to the Merle Hay location). This compares. It was gooey and tasty. Very yummy. Not as good as Giordanos, but very close, the crust was the real difference.

Now the rest...side salad was fresh though I pretty sure it was from a bag and the dressing was good. The service, slow, but forgivable since it is a newly opened location. Atmosphere, lacking. This used to be the old Buca Di Beppo so it is very stark compared to the eclectic wall coverings they are known for. If they could just paint inside and do something with the lighting it would be an improvement.

All in all the pizza was worth any negatives. I'll be back or I'll have it delivered!
