Details »Mickey's is a great irish pub. It's a true bar, with true drunk folks.

Along with a wide variety of people, you'll find 2 pool tables, a couple video games, some neat art, and lots of Irish quotes painted high on the walls. Plus they have around 10 TVs placed throughout the bar - usually playing random TV shows. Sometimes there are DJs playing, and college night has the cheapest drinks in town.

"An Irishman is never drunk as long as he can hold onto one blade of grass and not fall off the face of the earth."

Great Pub for the mid west. I see some comments on it not being Irish enough?? It's Iowa!! Not Chi Town,or Boston....It's Iowa. The new Owners are great and have really cleaned it up!! Great job

WHAT A DUMP!

Definitely not an Irish pub. Just another Midwest sleaze hole meat market for drunk 20somethings with some shamrocks and Irish quotes painted on the walls. Oh and another reviewer commented on the bathrooms. Perhaps they're participating in a pilot program to grow antibiotic resistant stains for VD. Nasty as a petry dish in there.

Mickey - Get a clue! Real Irish pubs include the following...

Ri-Ra, Charlotte, NC

The Curragh, Schaumburg, IL

Fado, Chicago, IL and Denver, CO

Just another Des Moines sports bar that wants to call itself an Irish Pub. How many TVs does it take to make it Irish? This town deserves a real Irish pub.

Reasonably priced drinks would give it 3 stars. 5 dollar cover on their "College" night drops it down. And the bar hardly has anyone there when its supposed to be "packed".

My partner and I had the WORST experience at Mickey's, which was disappointing because I'd heard good things about the place. To be fair, we went at an 'off' time (mid Sunday afternoon), but that's no excuse for the really poor service...there were only six people there, tops!

To start, we got the 'eye roll' when we walked in. You could tell the LAST thing the bartender wanted to do was to wait on us. She rolled her eyes a second time when we asked for menus. My date, "M" had to ask three times for a glass of water with his meal, and would have liked to order a second beer, but never had the opportunity.

The food was ok, better than average for bar food. However, the bartender was snotty and the 'regulars' unfriendly. "M" has sworn he will never go back, so I guess Mickey's won't be in our regular happy hour rotation.

I just moved here and I am already in love with this bar! The bartenders are friendly, they have great music, cheap drinks with awesome specials, and it's just an all around friendly bar. If you go out with the mind set that you're going to meet some cool people, you will here!

Alright, first off, don't even waste your time reading the little girl's review below. Mickey's is a great bar, good people, good service, and its own atmosphere. If there is a downside it's that the bar isn't the biggest for the crowd it gets. Don't expect to find many places to sit on a Saturday night. Other than that, a great bar to party and get wasted any day of the week.

If it's Wednesday night and you aren't at Mickey's you are a fool! Mickey's has got the look.

The only thing that could make Mickey's better is if they played more 80s music.

See my review of Drink: The Original Fun Bar.. Delete the comment of no cameras, rowdiness, and "special guest parking," add:

1. Way too much smoke.
2. Another comment about frat boys and girls in too small clothes.
3. The most disgusting bathrooms.. there might be diseases living on the toilet seats.

Copy the rest, and paste it under Mickey's Irish Pub, also in the "Hampton area" known as Clive.

Why the .5 extra star you ask?? I thought the free peanuts deserved some positive attention if you have to endure the rest of that hell.
