Wow I love blues, but I have to say that The Blues On Grand really needs to do some updating! The Bartenders are great, as is the music. I have been to many better blues clubs before, unfortunately you have to deal with the smell of urine throughout the place, leaving you to wonder.....Is this smell coming from the the person beside me, or the bum laying on the floor throwing up on himself? I've giving the place 3 tries, and really enjoyed the music, but they really need to clean the place up.

Diverse people,wide variety of blues offerings, and great bartenders combine to make this a destination on any evening. Watch for the upcoming BLUES CHALLENGE this month to see the best in local talent.
If you like to dance, listen to music and people watch, this is the place. And single ladies........one of the safest places in town to go alone.

Leave all of clean white clothes at home. Instead bring your version of "people say" or 'i've got a woman" with you and be prepared to leave wondering why you havent been down there before.

This is the joint that can make you forget that you're in Des Moines. Blues on Grand has a neighborhood dive bar feel with a Chicago caliber of blues musician. Even the open mike night sports a great level of musician.
This bar will suprise you.
