I'm normally not in this area of town so I don't stop here but one day a year. That day is my birthday. Their b-day club is great. You get a shirt, a pizza, and a mug you can refill for free all night long. The bar itself is ok. A couple of pool tables. The only reason it gets such high marks is because of the B-day club. Otherwise I'm not sure if I would frequent this place that much.

This place rocks year 'round! Between football, BB, and baseball, there's always something going on at DU. Now that Clive has started it's even better. They continually improve the menu and it's not just greasy bar food - best burgers in town! Check 'em out - you won't regret it!

Dirty Dirty Dirty. Down Under has the worst buffalo in town. I'm guessing from the wings that the other food isn't that good either. It's fun if you like super slow service.
If you want to leave a bar without feeling like you wasted your time and money, go just up the street to Drink.

First, I don't work at DU. Second, the food is not greasy bar food - they have appetizers, sandwiches, BBQ, steaks, pizza and salads. The food is awesome. Yea, you can get greasy food if you choose, but there is a butt-load of "non-greasy" food. Laser 103 is there every Wed nite for hump nite which has a lot of followers and Moose is the best! Too bad Samuel doesn't give it another try!

I can't believe this place has this high of a ranking??? I almost question the validity of the previous reviews and assume it's probably people who work there. This place is alright if you are looking for a west side dive, that serves basic greasy bar food, has an equal amount of good looking and ugly people in it, and basically is like 90% of the other bars in the Des Moines area. You could basically interchange the names of this place, A.K. O'Connors, 3Bag, Legend's and they all the same cookie cutter places. Originality gets about a zero, food about a two, stiff drinks about a 3, and overall a 2.

There's a lot of great looking chicks in the bar!! The wait staff is pretty hot, too! Love the BBQ!!! You totally rock DU!!!

This place is really too much fun - especially on Fridays after Clive. The place is packed and the DJ is rocking! They have specials every day and free appetizers M-F. Rock on DU!!!

We went to DU last weekend for my bachelorette party and I got to drink free as long as we were there! It's a great place for a party, that's for sure! We ended up staying for about 3 hours as opposed to the 1 drink and we're otta here. The staff is great and the place was packed, so it makes for even more fun. My friends and I highly recommend it!

This is THE best sports bar/grill in town! No stuffy people, the staff does an excellent job and the best food in town! It's a mix of all ages, and not just the early 20 year olds, who are only out to drink, get into fights or puke! Keep up the good work!

I'm a bit partial to DU - we have the best staff and the best food around! You really need to try the BBQ - it's awesome! There's a lot of great people that hang out there and make you feel at home. Check us out!!

DU is a great place to go, but we like Mimosa Sunday's the best! The best mimosa in town, and a cute bartender! They even have a mimosa club! They're not just for breakfast anymore!!!

Great place to watch any type of sports - the staff is very friendly! Great drink specials and the free appetizers vary each nite at happy hour. They get a lot of parties coming in so it's also a great place to people watch! The best is the 200 santa's that come in every x-mas!!!

Down Under is where it's at! Especially on Friday nites for Clive after 5 - they have a bar on the patio, they have the "ORIGINAL" trough girls, and the grill is cooking some great burgers and brats!

DU is a great dive/sports bar with a friendly atmosphere and probably the best Bloody Mary in town. It's a great place to watch all types of sports and a great place to throw darts and shoot stick. Don't get dressed up, because DU is not a high-end place. You'll love it for a laid back evening though.
